Knitting Steps and Tips
- Top Part Hat Weaving
- Rnd 1: loop up, 6 short hooks in the loop (no pulling, loop hooks, marker buttons on the 1st stitch of each rnd).
- Round 2: 2 short *6 on each needle, 12 stitches in total.
- Round 3: add 1 to every other, (1,2)*6, 18 short in total.
- And so on, gradually increase the number of stitches until you reach the desired diameter of the top of the hat (usually 17-18cm).
- Hat Knitting
- Round 1: 1 lock, hook a short hook inside the round without adding or subtracting (now start pulling on each round).
- Round 2: hook a short stitch in one round without adding or subtracting.
- Round 3: 3 locks on the 1st stitch, 1 long on the 2nd stitch, then 1 medium-length stitch from the front back to the right (i.e. the last stitch of the previous round); repeat the pattern with a group of 3 stitches at the back (1 long on each of stitches 2,3, then 1 medium-length stitch from the front back to stitch 1).
- Repeat the above steps, gradually increasing the number of rows and patterns.
- Hat Brim Weaving
- Moving on to the brim section, continue to knit as above until the desired width and height of the brim is achieved.
- To finish off, cut the thread, draw the thread tight with a sewing needle and tie the knot on the reverse side to complete the hat.
With the above steps, you can knit a stylish and functional woollen hat. Remember to keep the tension of the yarn even during the knitting process to ensure the shape and texture of the hat.
